ORGANIC CERTIFICATE

The control and certification system in organic farming is a guarantee for the consumer that the food in question has been produced in accordance with strict regulations for organic production and is free from contaminants, such as residues of plant protection products and hormones, and that no artificial fertilizers or genetically modified organisms were used during its production.

Control and certification system in organic farming

Operators who produce and market organic products are subject to a compulsory certification and production control system. The certificate of conformity is issued by an authorized body for a period of 12 months. This body conducts inspections, issues, and withdraws certificates of conformity. Each body has its own unique identification number.

One of these entities is the certification body AGRO BIO TEST. This is the most experienced Polish organization, founded in 1996 with the statutory objective of certifying products from organic farming in accordance with international requirements.

In Poland, the body that authorizes certification bodies to conduct inspections and issue certificates of conformity in the field of organic farming is the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, while supervision over authorized certification bodies and organic production is exercised by the Main Inspectorate of Commercial Quality of Agricultural and Food Products.

Recognizing organic food in stores

The rules for organic food production are governed by the Polish Act on Organic Farming of 2009 and EU legislation. Producers, processors, distributors, and importers may use the terms "bio" and "eco" if they meet all the requirements for this type of food.

In addition to unified regulations within the European Union, there is also a special labeling for organic products. This is the Community logo, the so-called "Euro-leaf", by which we can recognize that a given producer meets the requirements of the Act on Organic Farming and holds a certificate from an authorized certification body, and that at least 95% of the ingredients have been produced by organic methods, and the products have been under supervision during the production and preparation process in accordance with the accepted, current guidelines.
